Parametric Design
Parametric design is an algorithm-based methodology that allows designers to explicitly define a set of rules that encode and clarify the relationship between design intent and design outcome. It is highly structured and therefore requires deliberate planning. Although parametric design offers little to no room for happenstance, the clear organisation of the design process still facilitates the systematic exploration of novel ideas.
Parametric design enables us to:
Systematically create patterns with highly adjustable features including type, density, and element thickness.
Efficiently incorporate and evaluate design features that improve functional and structural coherence.
Incorporate mathematical functions into the design to modify design aesthetics and functionality.
Highly optimise the design to closely follow design goals and constraints.
